The Stables
The Cedar Springs Horses Inc. Stables |
| |
We are very proud to announce the opening of our new stable location! Situated approx. 35 minutes from Melbourne CBD, our new facility has even more room and more stables on offer for our ex-race horse re-homing program. |
Welcome to the Stables |
| Although the CSH stables are open to the public, it remains strictly by appointment only. Come along to view the facilities, see a few of our resident horses or maybe even meet an ex-racer to take home for yourself. Please see the 'contact' page for our telephone numbers and location. | |
The CSH inc. Stable Complex |
We have three stable complexes on the property, each housing horses at different levels of our program. And although there are plenty of boxes to go around, our ex-racers spend a very limited locked away. Most run free during the day, unless the weather does not permit. Many racehorses can spend up to 22 hours per day locked in a box, so upon arrival to our stables the horses are assigned to a box, but only use them at night time. |
The Paddocks and Yards |
During the day, our horses are worked with and cared for before being turned out into one of our many paddocks or spelling yards, to enjoy their day in the sun. |

Room to Run Free |
Some ex-racehorses have to be 're-introduced' into a herd environment; as many have not been kept in paddocks with other horses since they were born. Our paddocks offer lots of space to run free, and we often see paddock races of our own! |

Added Facilities |
Next to our public toilets and tea room, we also have wash areas and a sand roll for the comfort and well being of our ex-racers. |
It's all about the R&R |
We believe that it is very important for our ex-racers to have a relaxing and serene environment to complete their re-education. Each horse is treated differently, depending on his nature and background, but all of the horses are taught to simply be a 'horse' once again....and what a great place for them to be.... until they go home with you!
See you at the stables......... |
